Project Details

A 500,000-gallon composite elevated storage tank was successfully constructed to enhance water supply for the Village of Hobart, accompanied by upgrades to the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system that ensured operational continuity during power outages.

REL undertook the critical task of securing approvals from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR), and the Wisconsin Public Service Commission, which involved meticulous adherence to regulations and safety standards. This project not only improved water storage capacity but also bolstered the resilience of the water supply system, effectively supporting the needs of the Centennial Centre development and the broader community.

De Pere Elevated Storage Tank Reconditioning

Project Details

The City of De Pere retained Robert E. Lee & Associates to prepare plans and specifications for the reconditioning of the 9th street 250,000-gallon, multi-legged elevated storage tank. The project consisted of blasting with full containment and repainting the interior and exterior of the elevated storage tank. A new PAX mixer system was installed for tank mixing and to prevent ice build-up during the cold winter months. The perimeter handrail around the exterior of the bowl was raised to meet code requirements. Miscellaneous hatches and vents were replaced and enlarged.

De Pere Well Pump Improvements

Project Details

The City of De Pere retained Robert E. Lee & Associates to prepare plans and specifications for the well station improvements at two sites: Enterprise Drive and Merrill Street. For the Enterprise Drive well station, the column pipe was removed because the last 10-year inspection televising video showed degradation of the steel column pipe. When the well station was out of service, the pump and motor were inspected. The inspection findings proved a new pump and motor were required. Since the well station is used as a backup source of water, piping modifications were conducted to install discharge valves allowing well pump exercising without pumping into the system.

For the Merrill Street well station, a pressure relief valve being shared between the two booster pumps was removed. The piping was modified to install an air release valve for each booster pump.

Elcho Water System Improvements

Project Details

Wisconsin DNR concurred with an engineering report detailing the need for a large-scale water system improvement project in the small community of Elcho, Wisconsin. The water system, operated by Elcho Sanitary District, had twelve significant deficiencies and very little revenue to implement the necessary improvements. Projects costs were approximately at $1.8 million. Robert E. Lee & Associates, the Town of Elcho and Elcho Sanitary District coordinated with three different funding agencies to secure funding that would allow the Sanitary District to construct the majority of recommended work. Elcho’s water system improvements would ultimately utilize grant and loan money from Community Development Block Grant for Public Facilities (CDBG-PF), Safe Drinking Water Loan Program (SDWLP), US Department of Agriculture-Rural Development (USDA-RD) loan and grant. CDBG-PF grant for $522,000; SDWLP loan for $188,000; USDA-RD loan for $596,000; and a USDA-RD grant for $571,000. Work included an elevated storage tank, water main looping and new pipe installation of larger diameter pipe.

French Street (Business 41) Reconstruction

Project Details

The City of Peshtigo retained Robert E. Lee & Associates to prepare plans and specifications for the reconstruction of French Street from Ellis Street to the Peshtigo River, Oconto Street from Ellis Street to French Street, and the storm sewer of Ellis Street from French Street to Thompson Street. The City utilized Federal Enhancement Funds, TIF District Funds, and Jurisdictional Transfer Funds for the projects. The projects included the replacement of the sanitary sewer, water main, storm sewer, curb and gutter, new HMA pavement, decorative sidewalk, and new traffic signals. The aesthetic features included decorative street lighting, planters, and trees. The project was constructed in the summer and fall of 2012.

Sheboygan Urban Street Reconstruction

Project Details

The City of Sheboygan retained Robert E. Lee & Associates to provide the plans and specifications to reconstruct five urban projects. The projects included 1,800 feet of Huron Avenue, 900 feet of Wisconsin Avenue, 450 feet of New York Avenue, 500 feet of Center Avenue, 300 feet of 6th Street, 450 feet of Washington Court, 3,400 feet of S. 18th Street, and 450 feet of N. 5th Street. All of the streets were reconstructed with new concrete pavement, new curb and gutter, and partial replacement of the sidewalks. Some of the streets included new sanitary sewer, water main, and storm sewer. The project was constructed in 2011.
